History and Tradition
The 5S society originated in the 1940s and recognizes professionals selected for their merit, service, and contributions to the water and environmental industry. Membership is not requested; instead, members are selected based on their contributions and must be active members of the Water Environment Federation.
In addition, the traditions of the Paleros include a symbolic scale inspired by pH levels. Within the ceremony, pH7 represents the “Influent Integrator,” who presides over the event.
